Theme Arena for Robocon 2017

The theme for Robocon 2017 was “Asobi: The landing disc”. Two teams competed with each other with their robots. In the match, each team was given a set of discs that they are supposed to land on the poles of different height and at different distances, with a ball placed at the top of each pole. A team that will be able to land at least one disc on all seven poles with minimum time was declared as the winner of the game.

Our team had developed a robot for this competition. This robot was driven by 4 motors which were coupled with optical encoders. To control the trajectories of frisbees inclination angle of the firing plane could be changed using linear actuators and pressure of pneumatic cylinder was controlled by inhouse developed low cost pressure regulator. State machine algorithm was developed to automate operation and navigation by using high precision laser sensors.

Amongst 112 national teams, our team won National Championship. As a National Winner, we represented India at International Robocon 2017 held in Tokyo, Japan. Where we achieved overall 6th ranking among 19 international teams and won of Nagase Award.
